These paintings are based on stills from animated videos I have made over the last three years. The videos are commenting on the process of regeneration, housing projects and Utopian ideals as envisaged by the modernist architects. By referencing my own video work through painting I am removing myself from the initial source material, which in the case of these videos was Stockholm suburbs, in order to make a comment upon a comment. All of a sudden the videos themselves become somewhat superfluous and the one-frame glimpse inside a painted blob manages to ask the same questions as a three-minute video might have done.
