Nordic Artists’ Centre Dale

I am absolutely thrilled to have been awarded a 2 month residency at Nordic Artists Centre Dale in western Norway for next year. The centre is funded by the Norwegian ministry of culture and offers private living spaces and large studios at the purpose build centre for five international artists at a time. The 2016 residency programme will host artists from Norway, Sweden, UK, Italy, Mexico, USA, Germany, Ukraine, Tanzania, Colombia, Canada, Brazil and Switzerland. The artists will receive a stipend for each month to cover living costs and materials and a travel grant. My residency is scheduled to take place during February and March 2016.

I am really looking forward to the stay and to meeting the staff and other artists. The residency will give me a chance to immerse myself in the Scandinavian landscape, while continuing my research into how places impact on a person in a psychological sense, the relationship between the inner and outer and the difference between solitude and loneliness. The remoteness of the location calls for contemplation and a chance to live close to nature.
