{"id":309,"date":"2013-04-28T18:49:54","date_gmt":"2013-04-28T17:49:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceciliadanell.com\/wordpressblog\/?p=309"},"modified":"2015-09-27T17:22:11","modified_gmt":"2015-09-27T16:22:11","slug":"remember-me-before-i-forget-galway-arts-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ceciliadanell.com\/wordpressblog\/archives\/309","title":{"rendered":"REMEMBER ME (before I forget) &#8211; Galway Arts Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>2nd May &#8211; 1st June 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Press release: <\/strong><br \/>\n<img src=\"https:\/\/www.ceciliadanell.com\/images\/photos\/remembermeposter1.jpg\" width=\"70%\" \/><br \/>\n<em>The Eternal Return &#8211; by Cecilia Danell<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Red Bird Youth Collective will present \u2018Remember me (when I forget)\u2019, an exhibition presenting work by artists Cecilia Danell, Emmet Kierans, and Red Bird in collaboration with Jonathan Sammon and Ruadhr\u00ed Brennan. \u2018Remember me (Before I forget)\u2019 opens on the 2nd of May at 6pm, in the Galway Arts Centre, 47 Dominick Street. The exhibition will run for four weeks, until June 1st. In addition to presenting their debut film \u2018Belong\u2019, Red Bird have curated the exhibition and carried out all of the administration work, under the guidance of Galway Arts Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition and film \u2018Belong\u2019 has been funded by the Arts Council\u2019s Youth Ensemble Scheme 2012\u20132013. This is Red Bird\u2019s second time receiving this award. The funding has been used to fulfil Red Bird\u2019s mission of creating new work in collaboration with professional artists and also programming and curating visual art. The group is made up of young people aged 16\u201324. Red Bird is also supported by Galway County Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Belong\u2019 is a sci-fi psychological thriller exploring the themes of societal dislocation, isolation and the role of companionship and the many forms it can take in our lives. The group devised the script together and began filming in December 2012. Upon its completion, work by Danell and Kierans were selected. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Cecilia Danell is a member of Engage Art Studios, Galway. Her most recent exhibitions are \u2018Secretly, we thirst for reality\u2019 in Wexford Arts Centre, and \u2018The Consoling Dream Necessity\u2019 in Talbot Gallery, Dublin. Danell has an interest in the way we explore the world around us, often using landscape and the built environment as metaphors for internal states and the human condition. She works with a number of mediums including paint, film\/video, installation, and object making.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Emmet Kierans originally from Limerick, is now living in London completing a PhD in Practice Based Fine Art. Kierans most recent solo exhibition entitled \u2018Something From Nothing\u2019 focused on reality and perception, looking at how the mind perceives colour and shape, and aiming to reveal the plasticity of visual perception. In other work, he has dealt with the concepts of identity and the unconscious.
